The mission of the Fraternal Order of Police Bethlehem Star Lodge #20 Community Engagement Initiative is to actively give back to the youth and community of Bethlehem. We are committed to fostering unity, communication, and cooperation among all members of our community and its law enforcement officers providing opportunities for the Bethlehem community to take a proactive stance against violence through various initiatives and programs.

By promoting unity, communication, and cooperation, we aim to create a stronger and more connected community where everyone feels supported and empowered. Through our initiatives, we seek to inspire and empower youth to become agents of positive change in their communities, be confident in approaching and interacting with law enforcement, ultimately working towards a safer and more inclusive environment for all.

Through collaborative efforts and partnerships, we also strive to implement programs that not only address the immediate needs of our community, but also equip them with the resources to navigate life's challenges successfully. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of the youth and create a brighter future for our community.

2024 Initiatiaves:

The National Fraternal Order of Police Cops and Kids™  program is designed to foster relationships between law enforcement officers and the community through events such as taking underprivileged kids shopping for Christmas presents or providing them with school supplies. Giving a child a present, when they would not have received one or the supplies they need to excel in school, can make a lasting impression and show children that the police in their area are friends and are always there to help.  

The Bethlehem Star Lodge #20 Community Engagement Initiative is beginning to plan events under the FOP Cops and Kids™ banner with our three main events this year being:      

1. Police Trading Card Program- This program is anticipated to begin during Police Week, (May 12-18) and is designed to develop communication and interaction between members of the Police Department and young Bethlehem residents.  This is a great opportunity for children to meet and get to know the First Responders that serve their community as they collect cards and earn prizes.
2. Back to School Bags- This event occurring in August will consist of packed school bags being handed out to children throughout the community.  We intend to provide children with a school bag containing the supplies needed to help their first day at school be a successful one.
3. Christmas Present Shopping- This heartwarming initiative occurring in December allows children to shop with an officer to purchase Christmas gifts for themselves and their family members. The event not only affords the child a brighter holiday season, but also helps strengthen relationships with local law enforcement.  

These events play a vital role in promoting trust, respect, and cooperation between law enforcement and the community, ultimately contributing to safer and more vibrant neighborhoods in Bethlehem. However, to make these events a success and maximize their impact, we need the support of generous sponsors like you. In return for your sponsorship, we will also offer a one-year membership, with all the rights and privileges, as a  member of the Associate Lodge of Bethlehem Star Lodge #20 (contingent upon the required background check).
